Important changes to Test of English as a Foreign Language (ToEFL iBT)

 

From 26 July 2023 ToEFL iBT will no longer be offering English language tests for Australian

visa purposes until further notice.

 

For Australian visa purposes, visa applicants providing a ToEFL iBT test score for a test taken on or after 26 July 2023 will no longer satisfy the English language proficiency requirement.

 

Only ToEFL iBT scores from a test taken on or before 25 July 2023 will be accepted for visa purposes.

 

Please note that Educational Testing Service (ETS) will continue to offer test takers a version of ToEFL iBT; however the enhanced version of ToEFL iBT, regardless of location, is not a test approved by the Department for Australian visa purposes.

 

Visa applicants should take one of three approved tests used for Australian migration purposes:

• International English Language Testing System (IELTS);
• Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic); and
• Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), also known as C1 Advanced.
